A Story To Tell

Not today, but if enough people ask me, or one day I find another inspiration, I will write the full story of how I played a (small) part in ending the Vietnam War without bloodshed. This involved working as a volunteer in a deserted all metal office in late 60s New York City, personally transcribing real-time taped testimony for the nascent Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). Long, long personal confessions from veterans and from active duty military who were witnesses to American massacres, actual vs lied-about friendly-fire rates, fragging (intentional murder of a superior or fellow officer), and the on-the-ground story of government dysfunction from Washington. This testimony was eventually used in congressional hearings, presidential briefings, the media, and public speeches. Like I said, someday I’ll write it all down.
